It's a weird paradox, but I think the holidays actually give people more permission to be the kind of person that they are. When you think of seasonal holidays, it's kind of odd to take themed days off to channel parts of our personality. There's a day for love, there's a day for joy, there's a day for freedom, there's a day for religiosity. And each of these days have this real purpose. This is the maintenance of virtue.
So I like holidays, but I also wish that every life had a heightened experience. If we all got together in the morning and decided that we were all going to behave in a certain way, I bet that our days would become a lot more interesting. You know, Trump says that we have too many holidays, but think about if we made consciously as a society every day to be a holiday and we were to think about the 365 things that we cared about the most and really get on a vibe, it would probably take us in cool directions as a society.
